Remove the EGR valve function from your ECU software. Prevent carbon build-up, intake manifold clogging, and EGR valve failures.

The EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valve routes a portion of exhaust gas back into the intake manifold to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions. While it does its emissions job, the EGR system is one of the most common causes of problems on modern diesel engines. The recirculated exhaust gas carries soot and oil vapour, which gradually builds up as a thick carbon deposit inside the intake manifold, inlet ports, and on the valves themselves.
Over time, this carbon build-up restricts airflow, reduces engine efficiency, and can cause the EGR valve itself to stick open or closed. The result is rough running, power loss, increased fuel consumption, and often a check engine light. Replacement EGR valves aren't cheap either, and they'll just clog up again.
An EGR delete removes the EGR function from the ECU software, so the valve is permanently closed and no exhaust gas is recirculated. This stops the carbon build-up at its source and is a popular modification at our Rutherglen workshop, especially when combined with a DPF delete and remap.
